The day started with my go-to breakfast, khao kha moo, pork leg with rice. I’m glad I didn’t order the same dish as Tee because it came topped with an off-putting item- a couple stewed chicken feet.
Then it was off to check out the colorful and dragon filled Chinese temple.
Next we headed south of Mae Hong Song to an entrance to Namtok Mae Surin National Park. There were found the Mae Sakut Nature Trail which promised views of three waterfalls. After paying the local rate of about 30 cents each we started up the trail. I had smashed my big toe and ripped off part of the nail just a few hours before while trying to take pictures of teak canoes on the engorged Pai River and very quickly I realized that hiking was not the best remedy for an already throbbing toe. We cut the hike short after taking a refreshing dip in the second waterfall.
