When I think of my favorite habitat type, oak woodlands come to mind first because I love the structure of the magnificent oaks in California. Though not as visually pleasing to the eye, I have big love for wetlands because they are so productive and are home to my favorite birds, cranes.
Tee found out that there was a bird preserve, where Sarus Cranes live from November to May, not far from Kampot so we set out to see if we could find some cranes.
The directions we had called for us to continue down the road to the Anlong Pring Bird Sanctuary. We never found the reserve, but we did see a calf being born.
Today’s self guided tour cost $7 and we visited the bird sanctuary, saw a calf being born, saw mango and sapote orchards and visited the salt fields.
